The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine is the world’s 6th largest church by area. This structure sits at 121,000 sq. feet with a length of 601 feet and a roof height of the nave of 177 feet. The original construction began in 1892 with the opening of the crossing in 1909. This church was officially designated a city landmark in 2017.
Manhattan Land Surveying & Engineering provided surveying services and 3D laser scanning services in support of the Crossing Dome Roof Replacement project. The surveys provided elevation plans, cross-sectional plans and also located the existing center of the dome so that the replacement could proceed.
